In School Mountain SOL: International Mountain Day!

Hey hey MLA families!

Thank you for all of the help that we had for International Mountain day. It was a huge success!

Each class chose a tree on campus the week before, and for our celebration each child wrote something they loved about living in Appalachia or something they were thankful for on a strip of cloth. We then took our gratitude flags and attached them to a grapevine wreath (made by Mt. SOL students!) and hung that wreath on the class tree. The second and third graders couldn’t pick just one tree for their class, so they found several beautiful spots at the top of the campus and placed their gratitude flags in their most loved spaces. We loved the responses the children gave, from gratitude for water, the earth, the sun, or campfires with friends to gratitude for their families. It was such a great day!

Many of us then went to sing and play instruments at WVU as part of the Resilience and Gratitude concert at WVU.  Pictures for that coming next week!
