Welcome to Mountain Stewardship and
Outdoor Leadership School (Mountain SOL School)!
Located in Morgantown, West Virginia, Mountain SOL School is an outdoor education non-profit focused on nature awareness, stewardship and outdoor leadership. We offer in-school classes for students at our partner school, Morgantown Learning Academy, that meet state curricular standards, and we operate afterschool and summer programs for all local students that enhance the academic experience by connecting skills to practical applications.
Our classes are more than just lesson plans taught outside- they are engaging, fully immersed experiences. We emphasize passion, personal responsibility, and leadership skills to guide our next generation on the path of building a more just and resilient Appalachia.
All donations are tax deductible and allow us to
reach more kids with more programming

We operate in a close symbiotic relationship with our mother school, Morgantown Learning Academy. MLA is a non-profit, non-denominational, private school for children from preschool to eighth grade located in Morgantown, West Virginia. We are truly blessed to be nurtured by MLA.
We are very grateful to these programs that support, mentor, and stand in solidarity with our mission statement:
We are able to offer first aid certification for our Mountain Medic program through the support of our friends at the Herbal Medics Academy / Human Path. Our Jags paths were also largely influenced by our mentorship from Sam and Suchil. Interested in taking your wilderness medic skills to the next level? Learn more about the Austere Medicine Program.
We are supported in our staff education and resources for our practical herbalism class through the support of our friends at Commonwealth Holistic Herbalism. Check out the classes and so many free sources that they share! We also love their email newsletter =)
