Maureen is one half of our tag-team duo that runs our Cheat Mountain Campus and Surthrival Intensive courses. She and Ivan, and their son Griffin, live in Randolph County in an off-the-grid house made from natural materials. Maureen has extensive knowledge of survival skills and native medicinal plants and mushrooms. Maureen and Ivan sell gourmet and medicinal mushrooms at their farmers market stand and at a few local shops. Maureen also makes herbal salves and extracts from local herbs. She loves to share her knowledge of the natural world and engage others in a healthy relationship with their ecosystem.
Maureen is a certified Family Herbalist, a doula, and a student midwife. Maureen provides doula and birth support through her business, Highland Birth Support.
