Bethany is a student in the education program at West Virginia University.  She is a nature enthusiast and passionate about environmental education in West Virginia.  She is active in her community as a master gardener, master naturalist in training and a West Virginia Botanic Garden volunteer.  Bethany also currently works as a Kidematics instructor and Eco Rep for West Virginia University’s Office of Sustainability.  It is her hope that through education, communities can be healthy, surrounded by natural beauty, and connected to the world around them because “In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught” (Baba Dioum).

In 2014, Bethany received the “Guiding Light” award from the West Virginia Watershed Network for her efforts to support the statewide watershed movement.  She also received the Robert C Bartlett Environmental Education Award from the USDA – an award they created specifically for Bethany!
